A friend posted these at another blog. They are pretty dang funny so I thought I'd post the link here. Kudos to this crew for their sense of humour and for poking fun in a very creative way!
The cool part is any one is welcome to print them off or post them on their own blogs if they link back to the site.
Awesome!

Hey I think, that one on transparency describes Phil very good!
ReplyDeleteCareful there Anon,
ReplyDeleteThat's one vicious looking clown! Wouldn't want to make him upset. eeeek! ;-)
Ok, I thought these were funny, but some other people found them offensive. Maybe I missed the mark on this.
ReplyDeleteHere's what some others have put together in response. Graphically I don't think they are as strong, as the orginals and I don't think that the words are as powerful.
Having said that though, I do very much respect that the emerging group's response was one of Grace!!
Hopefully, the emerging group will come up with some different images in the future. I don't see how some of them represent strong definitions the message they are trying to put forth.
How, for instance, does a b&w image of an old, apparently abandoned, church tell anyone what the emerging church group is about? I think it's designed to say what they are against, church done the same old way, but I can't really tell for sure. More time searching for stronger images that really "sell" their message seems to be in order.
Perhaps I'm being too visual and not spiritual enough right now, I'm not sure. I just know that I didn't see anything that "wowed" me in these images even though I was "wowed" by the grace of the response.

Ok, now I'm really a bit bugged.
ReplyDeleteThey went and added more of these than the day I first saw them. Some of the newer ones seem a bit more mean spirited and I can see why the emerging folks are getting irritated.
REALLY don't like the one entitled "Sprirituality" nor the one about Politics! He should have quit when he was ahead and they were "cute and funny"
