Amazing Night

Tonight I had a great night!! Had dinner with some people that were family to me years ago but who I'd lost touch with over the last decade. It was the perfect night...all of us sitting around the table, sharing a meal and a history. Can't believe how utterly fantastic this last couple months have been, but tonight...way better than anything I could have hoped to have happen.

Still processing all the emotions involved, yet, I can honestly say I'm feeling an incredible sense of gratitude tonight.

This song expresses it pretty well!

Great Week!

This past week was amazing!!

Started last Saturday when I hung out for hours with my friend L. at Michael's, the store, choosing mats for some photos she has. We were there so long, we had to actually take a lunch break in the middle. :-O Seriously...we did!

Then I had dinner with and talked until 4am to my friend N. We hadn't seen each other in 10 years so we had loads of stuff to talk about. We used to go to the same church, and some of the stuff I learned about as we did the obligatory "what ever happened to?......" broke my heart right in two! Enough that basically, I just stayed in bed the next day. It was a tough 24 hours to say the least.

But then...Weds, was my birthday, and I got a cool gift when I got arrange for 2 of my buddies to get together for lunch when my one friend was visiting Sac. I was trying to figure out how I was going to introduce them, and it worked out that I didn't have to do anything but send a couple text messages!

Tonight I got invited to a special ordination service for a couple I'm friends with in town. They've come to be special to me, over the last year and a half or so. We've been through some "stuff" together...we have. I was so proud of them standing up there at the altar being recognized for what they've become and the way they've lived their lives!

Next week....I get to spend time with the kids of my friend N. I can hardly wait to hug them! That has got to be the best Christmas present EVER!!!

Speaking of Christmas, headed out to a party tomorrow night with some more folks I haven't seen for a while.

It's turning out to be a great holiday season so far!!!

This song from my favorite band pretty much sums up what I'm feeling tonight...

Lord, You have always given
bread for the coming day;
and though I am poor,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always given
strength for the coming day;
and though I am weak,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always given
peace for the coming day;
and though of anxious heart,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always kept
me safe in trials;
and now, tried as I am,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always marked
the road for the coming day;
and though it may be hidden,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always lightened
this darkness of mine;
and though the night is here,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always spoken
when time was ripe;
and though you be silent now,
today I believe.

Sunday Funnies

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the casa
Not a creature was stirring, and I wondered ¿Que pasa?
I was hanging the stockings with mucho cuidado,
In hopes that old Santa would feel obligado,
To bring all the children, both buenos y malos,
A nice batch of dulces and other regalos.
My brothers and I went to sleep in our camas,
Some in long underwear, some in piyamas.

When out in the yard there arose such a grito,
That I jumped to my feet like a frightened cabrito.
I ran to the window and looked afuera,
And who in the world do you think ¿Quien era?
St. Nick in a sleigh and a big sombrero,
Came dashing along like a little bombero.
And pulling his sleigh, instead of venados
Were eight little burros approaching volados.
I watched as they came, and this fat little hombre,
Was shouting and whistling, and calling by nombre.
¡Ay Pancho, Ay Pepe, Ay Cuca, Ay Beto
Ay Chato, Ay Chopo, Ay Maruca y Nieto!

Then standing up straight, with his hands on his pecho,
He flew to the top of our very own techo.
With his round little belly like a bowl of jalea,
He struggled to squeeze down our old chimenea,
Then huffing and puffing, and a little cansado,
He picked up a bag that looked so pesado.
He filled all the stockings with lovely regalos.
For none of the ninos had been very malos,
Then chuckling aloud, seeming very contento,
He turned like a flash and was gone like the viento.
And I heard him exclaim, and this is verdad,
Merry Christmas a todos, y ¡Feliz Navidad!

Roby kinda mood

sometimes lately, I just get to a place where only listening to roby duke seems to fit. i'm in one of those places now. i never knew roby except from his music years ago. he was a friend of a friend and through him, i've come to regain the appreciation of his music. when i just need to be in a quiet and reflective spot, it's roby's music that i find myself playing in the background. tonight, this song just seems right.
